A little about me…….. single mom, 4 kids, trying to make it in this world on my own by spinning yarn! I raise the animals, sheer, wash, card, dye, and spin the yarn myself. Not any yarn….. fabulous yarn! Since everyone seems to want a different type of yarn, I don’t really have one cut and dry style. I spin fat, I spin skinny, I spin carded, and I spin uncarded in the grease. In the grease is probably my favorite. I love the texture of uncarded wool, mohair, llama, and alpaca. Alpaca raisers find this highly unusual and some have never heard of it. But alpaca spun uncarded is fuzzy and fuzzy is good!!!! I say break the rules! Don’t do what everyone else is doing. Anyone can spin a thin even yarn that looks like something you bought at Wal-Mart. Spin something that screams HANDSPUN!! Fat, shlubby, uneven, fuzzy, be creative! The results will amaze you. Then knit, crochet or weave it and see the differnce in your finished piece! Unbelievable difference!

I am only a beginning knitter, couple years now. I do intend to take a class to learn how to make sweaters. Until you can knit a sweater, you just aren’t a knitter, I guess! Anyway, I knit scarfs, wraps, ponchos, hats, purses…… ok, maybe I am a knitter! But I can’t read a pattern to save my life! Hence the need for the class. My daughter, Charissa, who by the way is next to me in the photo on our website http://summerlandfibers.etsy.com bought a kit and learned to knit purses. It was hillarious! She would call me on the phone…. 3000 miles away and expect me to explain knit stitches to her. She wanted to make purses, but did not know how to knit. I explained as best I could, put your hand here, put your yarn there….. etc! then I sent her photo copy pages from my How to Knit book, and she got it. NOW she can read patterns and knit almost anything…. the majority of the purses on our website are hers by the way….. and…. I still can’t !!!

Ah! Life is good! I have found a partner, Carol Marler, to knit sweaters and vests for me! I have been so busy trying to keep up with my spinning and processing the yarns, I barely have time to make the hats and scarves. This was an area my business had been lacking! Carol is extremely talented as a knitter, crocheter, and designer. We are splitting profit on all joint projects and discussing expanding to the Artist’s Market in Santa Fe. We will apply for a booth at the Toas Wool Festival for the 2008 year along with Deb Hayden if all goes well. Please check out her designs on my web site… http://summerlandfibers.etsy.com. Leave some feedback so she will know how much you love her!!! Prices are always negotiable, since we are just getting started at building a fan base, so if you truly are interested in anything, email me with your offer at fiberfrinzi@yahoo.com. Thanks
